Potential Development @ Edgefield
At Edgefield Secondary School, we believe that every student has the potential to grow and shine in different ways. Our Potential Development (PD) framework empowers Edgefielders to discover what excites them, develop their strengths, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
We do this by offering a range of opportunities across different domains — helping students take ownership of their learning, set personal goals, and celebrate their growth.
5 Domains of Growth
Edgefielders are encouraged to participate in activities across these five key domains, as part of their holistic development:
1. Cognitive
Develops thinking, problem-solving and innovation skills
Activities may include: MOE Innovation Programme, Model United Nations, International Elementz Science Research Conference and Exhibition, Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championship etc
2. Character & Leadership
Builds confidence, responsibility, and the ability to influence positively
Activities may include: leadership training, class committee roles,
3. Community & Citizenship
Fosters awareness of local and global issues, and the desire to contribute
Activities may include: Values-in-Action (VIA) projects, sustainability projects, advocacy campaigns
4. Arts & Aesthetics
Encourages creative expression and appreciation for the arts
Activities may include: Edgefield Buskers, K-pop dance etc
5. Sports & Health
Promotes resilience, teamwork and healthy living
Activities may include: Sports and Games Carnival, Edgefield Run, Olympic Education Programme etc
The 3-Tier Potential Development Framework
We understand that every student is at a different stage of growth. The Potential Development Framework organises learning opportunities into three tiers, based on interest, readiness, and commitment:

Selected Participation with Guided Development · Programmes where students are chosen based on school-defined criteria (e.g. performance or teacher recommendation). · Participants receive some training to deepen their skills and understanding. |

Tier 3: Passionate and Soaring |
Specialised Programmes for High Performers · Opportunities with national-level benchmarks or external selection criteria. · Participants receive sustained and targeted training to develop their talents and prepare for advanced competitions or showcases. |
